Nate decided to rent a bike and ride to work, so we (Dave,
Kristie, and I) could drive to ASML at lunch time to take a tour.
Nate texted me to let me know when he would take his lunch.
We got to ASML with no trouble and went and parked out in the overflow
parking.
Nate works on the 8th floor of the tall building. |
We had to go to the front security desk and get some guest
badges so we could go for a tour. First Nate took us up to the 8th
floor and showed us the room that he normally works in. Then he took us up to
the 18th floor mainly to show us the amazing view.
The view from the 18th floor. You can see Eindhoven in the distance. The Steeple in the middle of the picture is next to where we are staying. |
Some of the ASML factory. |
All these buildings are ASML, as well as the huge parking garage along the freeway. |
He also showed us the cool drink vending machine thing. It pops out a cup and then fills it with whatever you choose: cold/hot water,
coffee, hot cocoa, or even soup all for free.
We walked around to many different buildings until we found
a cleanroom we could look into. He explained a little bit about what we were seeing,
so we could understand more of what he does on a daily basis.
After that we headed to lunch at the cafeteria. They have a
nice variety of things to choose from: meats, cheeses, and breads you
can choose if you want to make a sandwich, or some pasta or salad. Plus they
have desserts, drinks, and much, much more.
Later in the evening we waited for Nate to text saying he
was on his way home, but he had to work late, and then on top of that he was on
a bike.
On the way home Nate started down a different road thinking he knew which road it was and trying a new way home. It turns out he was on some other road and ended up going a very twisted way back to Eindhoven. He finally did make it back to the
apartment, even if he did take the long way home.
